Truro and Penwith Academy Trust, together with Cape Cornwall School are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Cover Supervisor for Cape Cornwall School.

The Role
As a Cover Supervisor at Cape Cornwall School, you will provide high-quality and effective cover across a range of subjects and age groups. This role is vital for maintaining continuity in learning during short-term teacher absences, PPA time or SEN requirements. You will lead lessons, manage classroom behaviour, and ensure pupils remain on task in a constructive environment.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Leading Lessons: Actively teaching and leading covered lessons according to provided plans, or pro-actively sourcing materials when necessary to ensure continuity of learning.
Student Support: Providing individual and whole-class support while recognising and responding to the unique needs of every student.
Behaviour Management: Promoting positive values and attitudes, applying rewards and sanctions in line with school policy to maintain good order.
Collaboration: Liaising with Heads of Department and teachers to ensure resources are distributed effectively and reporting back on pupil progress and any issues.
Tutor Support: Providing cover for tutors, offering mentoring and guidance to remove barriers to learning and support high attendance.
About You
We are looking for someone who enjoys working with young people and possesses the patience, creativity, and sense of humour needed for a busy school environment.
Essential Criteria:
Education: GCSEs (Grade C or above) in English and Maths, or equivalent Level 2 literacy/numeracy skills.
Experience: A proven track record of working with pupils in a learning environment and experience leading covered lessons.
Skills: Strong ICT skills, excellent communication, and the ability to build positive relationships with both pupils and adults.
Commitment: A clear understanding of safeguarding and child protection, as well as a commitment to equal opportunities.
Desirable Criteria:
NVQ 3 for Teaching Assistants, HLTA qualification, or a Teaching Qualification.
Specialist support experience in specific curriculum areas or with specialist pupil groups.
Training in first aid or specific pupil behaviour management strategies.
