What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and creative individual to cover teacher absences working with KS 3, 4 and 5 students.

You must have the confidence to supervise a class, oversee the completion of pre-set work and manage the behaviour of students. A willingness to cover practical subjects such as Food Technology and PE along with previous experience of working with young people will be an advantage.

The duties are varied. In addition to cover supervision, you will also be required to provide classroom support for teachers, exam invigilation, internal exclusions, first aid, breaktime/lunchtime cover and some administrative duties. Good ICT skills are therefore essential. This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.

What the school offers its staff

We are situated in the beautiful South Hams town of Totnes, with incredible countryside, towns and villages around us. We have the natural wonders of the River Dart, South Devon beaches and Dartmoor on our doorstep, alongside excellent transport to London, Exeter, and Bristol via the A38/M5 and the mainline railway which is 200m from our school. It is an amazing place to live and work.

You will be part of a forward-thinking school. We’re excited by the collaborative opportunities open to us since joining Education South West (www.educationsouthwest.org.uk) in September 2022, a trust of local primary and secondary schools that includes a nationally recognised teaching school hub at Kingsbridge.

Commitment to safeguarding

Education South West is committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post. This includes checks with past employers, an online check of publicly available information, including social media, and an enhanced disclosure via the Disclosure and Barring Service.
