What skills and experience we're looking for
Are you looking to work in a vibrant school community? The Cover Supervisor plays an important role in our Academy, maintaining continuity of education for students in the absence of their regular teacher, ensuring that the work set is understood and completed and promoting high standards of conduct and learning. We provide training and induction, including behaviour management skills. There will be opportunities to observe good practice of both classroom teachers and other cover supervisors in order to develop good practitioner skills. You will be an integral part of a friendly and committed team of staff. You must also be able to work on your own initiative as well as in a team.
The post is an ideal stepping stone for anyone seeking a career in education and a number of former cover supervisors have gone on to complete teacher training successfully. Prior experience of working in a school would be an advantage but not essential. You should have a commitment to working with young people. In addition to cover supervision, the successful candidate will be expected to cover some additional duties.
