Cover Supervisor job summary

The Cover Supervisor will be expected to supervise whole classes, individuals, or small groups of students, during the short-term absence of teachers. They will need to be able to assist students with their work, respond to questions, demonstrate excellent classroom behavior management skills and be able to work independently and as part of the wider school team.

The Cover Supervisor will assist Teachers, and other relevant staff in supporting pupils with emotional and behavioral difficulties who are excluded / disaffected from school or who are unable to attend school due to illness or other difficulties.

We are looking for someone who:

·       Shares our vision of “Learning together in pursuit of happiness” and applies that to all they do in their work.  

·       Is a highly motivated professional who can form positive relationships with students and parents.

·       Is flexible, and passionate about helping young people reach their full potential, and able to use their own initiative to engage with them.

·       Can demonstrate previous successful work within an educational setting or similar, preferably with students with additional needs.

·       Has at least GCSE level English and Maths in order to ensure they are able to adequately support students in class.

·       Alongside teaching staff, is confident in setting, monitoring and reviewing personalised targets that will optimise learning for every student.

·       Can oversee students working on individual programmes and in small groups.

·       Can contribute to school planning and self-evaluation with their grassroots knowledge.

·       Is wanting to develop their skills by participating in professional development programmes

·       Can be flexible at times to meet the needs of the school.
