Cover Supervisor job summary
Immediate start
Single Status Grade 5, Term time only
Full and part time applicants considered
We are looking to appoint a confident, flexible and highly organised individual to join our dedicated team of Cover Supervisors. The role requires providing short-term lesson and registration cover for class teachers in years 7 – 11, ad-hoc administrative tasks throughout the school and break/lunchtime supervision when required.
This term-time only role is a superb opportunity for anyone wishing to gain experience in a school environment, working in partnership with both our teaching and administration staff. The post will suit someone with a natural enthusiasm and ability to engage with young people. Successful candidates will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be calm, confident, resilient and empathic.
Previous experience is not necessary, as you will be given a full induction and training programme; however, an understanding of working with children and safeguarding policies is desired.
Uplands Academy is a split site, semi-rural, mixed 11-18 non-selective converter academy with approximately 800 students. We are situated in Wadhurst in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The vast majority of our staff travel to Uplands from a variety of locations within the South East, including Brighton, Eastbourne, Lewes and Tunbridge Wells.
In September 2022, Uplands Academy, together with Beacon Academy in Crowborough, became a member of the MARK Education Trust (formally Beacon Community College Academy Trust). The acronym MARK was selected because staff who work in the trust are motivated, ambitious, resourceful, and knowledgeable. This partnership will provide many exciting opportunities for professional development, and the sharing of good practice across the two schools.
We work meticulously to secure a culture of unapologetically high expectations that are underpinned by our collective, uncompromising belief and ambition for our students, and for the experienced, loyal, highly-skilled and highly-effective team of staff that teach them, allowing teachers to teach and students to learn. MARK Education Trust is committed to the development of both its staff and students.
Full or part time hours will be considered for the right candidate. An 8:30am start is essential. This role is paid on Single Status Grade 5, currently £25,183 - £25,583 per annum, full time equivalent.
All posts are subject to DBS enhanced clearance, health checks and satisfactory references. Uplands Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
NB: we advise applying promptly for this post as we reserve the right to close and interview early if sufficient suitable applications have been received.
