Cover Supervisor job summary
Are you well-organised and calm? Can you settle a class of secondary students and supervise them whilst they complete work set by their absent teacher?
Winchcombe School is looking for a new Cover Supervisor, initially a fixed-term role during the current academic year, but there is the possibility that it may become a permanent position.
Reporting to the Senior Leadership Team, the Cover Supervisor is responsible for managing the cover service for absent teachers. They will take calls before the school day and plan for the supervision of absent teachers’ classes. They will be expected to supervise classes and groups of pupils, ensuring that students complete the work set by their teacher in an atmosphere of calm and industry.
Where required, the Cover Supervisor will need to assign classes to colleagues or to employ agency staff. The ideal candidate will have excellent organisational and communication skills.
The role also includes organisation of homework and exam timetables together with any necessary room re-allocation.
The post is 33.75 hours per week term-time only plus INSETS. Required hours of attendance are 8.25am to 3.15pm plus time for Relief Cover Management. Initially this will be a fixed-term post for one year, although there may be scope for it to continue.
