What skills and experience we're looking for

Job Description

The role is broken down into 4 priority areas:

  • Cover Supervision - To deliver lesson content and supervise and support classes during the absence of the teacher

    • Ensure trainees understand the work that has been set by the absent teacher

    • Manage the behaviour of trainees whilst they are undertaking this work to ensure a constructive and positive environment

    • Follow up attendance or behavioural concerns in line with the school’s policies

    • To reflect and review progress within the cover lesson, passing on these reflections to the absent member of staff upon return.

    • Recording trainee attendance using ELAM systems

  • Curriculum Support - When cover isn’t required, you will support delivery across our pathways (Film & TV, Games, Music, Language Arts and Maths).

    • This will take the form of team teaching and supporting learning, progressing to taking on a number of regular classes, focusing on written elements of the UAL course (including Context, Research, Reflection and Evaluation).

    • To take on the teaching of an Music R&D class, supporting them in the written elements of the UAL course

    • To support with teaching in areas that might further utilise your creative skillset

  • Assessment Support - To provide support to the Music team in marking the written elements of the UAL course.

    • This will be linked to the Music R&D class that you teach

    • Marking is in line with the UAL Level 3 programme of study, specifically in Music Performance and Production. As mentioned above, the written elements include Context, Research, Reflection and Evaluation

    • Utilising ELAM data systems to record the feedback and the assessment decisions

    • Providing feedback to the trainees which allows them to understand their strengths, identify areas for development and suggests methods for achieving this.

    • Taking part in cross-team moderation to support the fair awarding of grades

  • Cross-Centre Support - Including, but not limited to

    • Supervising rooms whilst trainees are completing independent study

    • Supporting with cross centre duties

    • Running 1:1s with trainees
