Curriculum Lead for Languages job summary

Saracens High School is a secondary school which opened in September 2018 for 156 Year 7 pupils, growing each year until the school is full in 2024. It is located in the Colindale area of North London.

We are looking for a dynamic and inspirational leader of Languages, to lead our small but growing team, to deliver an outstanding curriculum in our brand new state of the art building, which we will move into later this year. We currently teach Spanish to all pupils, with other languages offered through enrichment. The successful candidate will lead the growth of the team while preparing our first cohort for their KS4 exams, and setting up our KS5 language provision.

You will be highly organised, knowledgeable in the subject, effective in driving pupils' progress, and have the ability to communicate with clarity and sensitivity to your team, the school, and the local community. You will be ambitious to create a strong reputation for your subject area within the school and wider.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of an exciting and growing curriculum area. You will help to shape an exciting and challenging curriculum, to ensure that our pupils can attend the best Universities or successfully compete for sought-after apprenticeships. Our school values of Discipline, Hard Work, Honesty, and Humility are embedded in our lessons and our approach to life as learners.

You will be helping to create a distinctive culture and philosophy, so from the moment someone enters the school, they know this is where the learner is empowered to 'be the best that they can possibly be'. The individual abilities of each pupil are recognised and where coaching for life skills, as well as academic excellence, is at the core of all we do.

This post is offered as a one year contract in the first instance, with the possibility of further opportunities.

Commitment to safeguarding

The Trustees and Governors recognise their responsibility under section 175 of the Education Act 2002 to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. We are committed to working with other organisations and agencies to ensure good arrangements within the school to identify assess and support those children who are suffering harm or at risk of harm.
The principles on which our policies are based apply to all trustees, governors, staff and volunteers working in or with the school.
