Curriculum Leader – Design and Technology

Are you passionate about Design and Technology? If so, we are looking for a teacher with experience of Design and Technology who is creative, positive and committed to ensuring that students achieve great outcomes and lead a department. As the Curriculum Leader in Design and Technology, you will lead, develop and manage the effective delivery of an inspiring and engaging curriculum across all disciplines. Experience across traditional processes, CAD/CAM and teaching GCSE is essential. The successful candidate will lead a small department.

Design and Technology is well respected, progressive and successful subject at Copthall, with consistently good results at GCSE Product Design. At KS3, we provide opportunity for students to enjoy learning in the following specialist areas; Product Design and Food.

The DT classrooms and food rooms are well equipped including ICT, CAD/CAM, laser cutter Metal Working, and Woodworking and Electronics facilities.

For the third year running, we celebrated another very successful year in our examination results. Our preliminary P8 score is +0.89, which places us in the top 1% in the country for progress. 90% of English grades were 9-4 with increases in outcomes for both Maths and Science. One of our students was the highest achieving history student in the whole country and gained a suite of grade 8s & 9s. Our A-level results were equally impressive with our A*-C grades increasing from 61% in 2018 to 74%. In addition to this, students who sat vocational subjects did equally well with the average grade a Merit+.

Our thriving Sixth Form, which is in the top 12% of schools for A Level results, offers both A-Level and Vocational pathways and we boast an excellent success rate in University applications.
Copthall has seen rapid improvements in standards across the school. Following our recent Ofsted inspection in May 2018. Copthall has been awarded ‘Good’ status “By implementing systems to raise staffs and pupils’ aspirations, leaders have established a culture of high expectations.
