The Role:
As Curriculum Lead for Art, Design and Technology, you will:
Have a specialism in Food, Art or Resistant Materials.
Lead and manage the Art and DT departments, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across both subjects.
Design and deliver an engaging curriculum that inspires students to excel in Art and DT.
Drive innovation and creativity, encouraging students to develop both practical and critical thinking skills.
Oversee departmental planning, budgeting, and resource management.
Use of a range of data to inform policies, practices, expectations, targets and teaching methods.
Support and mentor staff within the departments to foster professional growth and collaboration.
Promote student engagement through enrichment, exhibitions, competitions, and projects.
About You:
We are looking for an inspiring and adaptable leader who:
Is passionate about their subject.
Communicates effectively with all staff, students and parents.
Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and has experience teaching Art and/or DT
Has proven leadership skills or the potential to excel in a leadership role.
Is passionate about fostering creativity and practical skills in students.
Can design and deliver an innovative and inclusive curriculum for Key Stages 3–5.
Demonstrates strong organisational and communication skills.
Is committed to creating an engaging and supportive learning environment for students and staff alike.

The Harefield Academy is an 11-18 comprehensive school. In our most recent Ofsted inspection in September 2021, the inspector reported that: “The school was graded Good in all areas, the inspector reported that: “Pupils have a strong sense of right and wrong. They are keen to speak about topical issues such as sexual harassment in schools. They learn about equality and diversity through the programme for personal, social, health and economic education (PSHE). Pupils have high aspirations for their futures. They behave well in lessons, with minimal disruption to learning”.
