This is an opportunity for a highly-effective practitioner to lead on the development of Learning for Life, ensuring that the curriculum goes above and beyond statutory requirements to deliver engaging and informative content which shapes and prepares our young people for the wider world.

Within this role you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Learning for Life curriculum in order to ensure the agreed schemes of work are delivered effectively and the planning and strategic development of Learning for Life across the school. This is an exciting opportunity and would suit any teacher who has a desire to get the best out of every student, a can-do attitude and an unfailing belief in the potential of every one of our students. The ability to teach a specialist subject in an area for which we have an upcoming vacancy will be an advantage.

You will be responsible for designing and quality-assuring the delivery of lessons that equip students with essential life skills like RSE, communication, problem-solving, critical thinking, time management, and personal finance, often focusing on developing students' confidence and self-awareness through practical activities and real-world scenarios.

Duties and responsibilities:

Co-ordinating the delivery of PSHE and Citizenship at KS3 and KS4, within the taught curriculum and beyond, including:

  • Enhancing provision by engaging external speakers

  • Responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Learning for Life curriculum in order to ensure schemes of learning are delivered effectively and quality-assured in line with the academy QA programme

  • Responsible for the planning and strategic development of Learning for Life across the Academy including liaising with performance directors, the head and DH of sixth form, the careers coordinator and our careers advisor, to ensure consistency of approach throughout each year group

  • Ensuring all subject teachers are familiar with the schemes of learning and there is consistency of delivery to the standards, expectations and policies used at The Misbourne

  • Ensuring the progression of knowledge and skills from year to year

  • Reviewing and adapting Schemes of Learning as required

  • Keeping up-to-date with developments in subject areas and disseminating to other teachers in the curriculum area

  • Providing advice and support where appropriate

  • Ensuring appropriate work is available to cover staff

  • Working with colleagues to ensure that difficult topics are delivered with integrity and compassion
