Curriculum Lead of Mathematics – An Outstanding Leadership Opportunity

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional and inspiring leader to head our Mathematics faculty—someone who is passionate about the teaching and learning of Mathematics and dedicated to making a real impact in students’ lives.

The Romsey School, part of The Gateway Trust, is a forward-thinking and ambitious community, committed to providing a first-class education. We champion creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking, with our Mathematics department playing a central role in driving whole-school improvement. The faculty has a strong track record of success and innovation, and we are looking for a leader who can build on this foundation—further developing the team through professional learning and enhancing the mathematical experience for all our students.

The successful candidate will teach across the full age and ability range at Key Stages 3 and 4.

We are deeply committed to professional development and seek a candidate who is equally passionate about their own growth and that of their team. In return, we offer access to a comprehensive staff benefits programme and, for an exceptional candidate with proven middle leadership experience, the opportunity to contribute to our extended Senior Leadership Team.

Mathematics is a leading department within the school and members of the team work closely to support a number of schools, both at the primary and secondary education level. With slightly smaller class sizes and our links with the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM), pupil performance has been consistently excellent at both key stages for a number of years. In 2024 83% attained at least a grade 4 at GCSE level, 65% attained at least a grade 5 and 25% attained at least a grade 7, all significantly above national average and placing the department within the top 20% for attainment through the FFT Aspire measures.

We actively encourage pursuing your professional development through the Department for Education (DfE) National Professional Qualifications’ (NPQs) route. Alternatively, have you thought about becoming a Chartered Teacher through the Chartered College of Teaching? If so, The Romsey School can support you through this.

In return, The Romsey School will provide you with:

  • A supportive leadership team and a great working environment
  • Access to the staff benefits programme which includes the ‘cycle to work’ and electric car scheme
  • Focus on staff wellbeing, including 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme, free flu vaccination and eye care vouchers.
  • Opportunities to be included within the school community by joining one of several groups of staff within the school that lead on significant initiatives such as:
  • STEM.
  • Student leadership.
  • Extracurricular sports clubs.
  • Duke of Edinburgh Award.
  • A variety of trips and educational visits, which includes international trips to places such as Kenya, Iceland, Spain, and Paris.
  • Discounted lunches from our excellent in-house kitchen.
  • Access to and an Employee Discount to our on-site nursery, Little Sunlights
  • On-site, free staff car parking.
