What skills and experience we're looking for

We currently have an opportunity to appoint a positive and skilled Deputy Curriculum Leader for History to deliver the highest level of teaching & learning for our aspirational students. Excellent subject knowledge and the ability to motivate students through inspirational, personalised teaching is essential. The ability to teach to GCSE is essential and the ability to teach to A Level is desirable.

This is an excellent opportunity for a talented teacher to join a thriving school:

  • to work with students who are committed to their learning and passionate about their own further professional development;
  • to further enhance an already high functioning department of skilled teachers;
  • to work to raise the outcomes for all pupils by inspiring and motivating students and staff alike.

There is also an additional opportunity for colleagues with Pastoral experience to be considered for a current Pastoral vacancy. If you are interested in this additional opportunity, please indicate this within your application form and covering letter which can then be discussed further in interview. This should not deter colleagues from applying who do not wish to be considered for a Pastoral role.

History is offered through KS3, KS4 and KS5, with Politics also offered at KS5. The successful applicant should therefore be able to teach GCSE History. The ability to teach History or Politics to A Level is desirable; where candidates have not yet delivered to A Level but are excited by the opportunity, they will be well supported through excellent mentoring and CPD.

The successful applicant will support the Curriculum Leader for History in leading the Department forward towards successful outcomes for all students. Key responsibilities of the post will include supporting the Curriculum Leader with a focus on academic intervention in order to give all of our students the greatest chances of success.

Arden is a truly exceptional school at the heart of the community and the peak of academic excellence. Situated just minutes off Junction 5 of the M42 and only 3 miles from the town of Solihull, visitors are astounded by our confident and articulate students. Our recent Ofsted report spoke about the culture of ‘exceptionally high aspirations that permeate the school’ and ‘the positive relationships between staff and pupils’ where ‘teachers teach individuals, not classes’. As an innovative school always striving for better there is a constant drive to achieve maximum personal and academic potential and as part of a Multi Academy Trust there is the opportunity for exceptional training and the sharing of knowledge and ideas.
