What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking for a hardworking, ambitious and dynamic Deputy Director of Sixth Form to join Harris Academy Wimbledon at this exciting time. You will have excellent opportunities to engage in wider Harris Federation academy improvement and professional development activities.
The Deputy Director of Sixth Form will bea well-qualified specialist, holding QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree, you will have the ability to teach from KS3 to KS5. We are looking for a strong communicator with proven skills in engaging with, inspiring and motivating, not just the school community but the wider community.
The successful candidate will:
- Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree
- Have a minimum of one year's teaching experience
Have proven success in raising achievement.
Show a high level of ICT skills and experience of how new technologies can be used to raise achievement
Have recent experience of involvement in innovative curriculum development
Show good understanding of creative whole school strategies for improving literacy and numeracy and the importance of this in raising achievement
Have experience of embedding innovative strategies for Assessment for Learning and Learning to Learn.
Be willing to use coaching as a model for ensuring on-going professional development.
- Have a proven ability to identify and implement strategies to raise standards of Teaching and Learning.

Harris Academy Wimbledon opened in September 2018. We are a brand new, co-educational 11-18 school for the High Path area. We currently have 900 students in year 7-11 and will open a 6th form in September 2023.

The purpose of your role will be:
- To provide professional leadership for HAWI6, which secures success and continuous improvement in teaching and learning, ensures a high quality education and school experience for all learners.
- To ensure the highest standards of achievement for all learners creating a productive, disciplined learning environment.
- To ensure a positive ethos which reflects a commitment to high achievement, effective teaching and learning and good relationships.
- To ensure the life of HAWI6 and the curriculum effectively promote students' moral, social and cultural development and prepare them for adult life.
- To ensure high expectations for students are set and maintained.
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Overseeing day-to-day management, control and operation of provision within HAWI6, including effective use of tutors and physical resources.
- Actively monitoring and following up student progress.
- Developing effective community partnerships.
- Formulating aims, objectives and strategic plans for HAWI6 which have coherence and relevance to the needs of students and to the aims, objectives and strategic plans of the Academy.
- Promoting HAWI6 and meet recruitment targets.
- Co-ordinating and lead the UCAS team.
- Organising and running the induction day for year 11.
- Supporting with HAWI6 leadership applications and process.

We are an ‘Outstanding' (Ofsted 2023) secondary academy, established in 2018 to provide an excellent education for children in Wimbledon. With our new Sixth Form opening this year, we will soon have a full cohort of students aged 11-18.
Two years after opening, we moved into our brand-new building which is modern, bright and equipped with state-of-the-art facilities in every area of the curriculum. We are oversubscribed and fortunate to have an amazing level of support from the community with waiting lists for entry into every year group of our academy.
