What skills and experience we're looking for
We are offering an exciting opportunity for an excellent practitioner to take on a significant leadership role within the thriving Sixth Form of our outstanding selective school. The successful candidate will work as part of an experienced and supportive Sixth Form leadership team and support the work of a large team of tutors. The role may represent a development opportunity for colleagues who have not taken on a post of responsibility before, although some Sixth Form pastoral experience would be desirable. Whatever the background experience of the successful applicant, appropriate training, support and mentoring will be provided to enable them to carry out the role effectively.
Applicants should note that as role involves a substantial teaching timetable, the successful candidate will need to be able to able to offer one of the following subjects to be considered for the role:
- Modern Foreign Languages (French and German) with the ability to teach either French or German to A Level and the other language to Key-Stage 3 being essential.
- Mathematics, with the ability to teach able students to A Level being essential and the ability to teach Further Mathematics A Level, advantageous.
- Economics, with the ability to teach to A Level being essential.
- Science, with the ability to teach Physics to at least GCSE essential.
What the school offers its staff
Langley Grammar School is a co-educational 11-18 selective school with academy status, located within easy reach of Langley station and the M4.The school was inspected by Ofsted in November 2021, and was graded outstanding in all categories. We have approximately 1240 students, over 330 of whom are in the Sixth Form. The school is heavily over-subscribed and draws students from a wide geographical area and range of backgrounds. Alongside promoting excellent academic outcomes, our school ethos supports students to become confident and well rounded, independent and creative, responsible and caring. Our students are capable, hardworking and a delight to teach. We are a National Teaching School with a record of nationally recognised innovative practice, and an Apple Distinguished School in recognition of our leading-edge use of technology for learning. In recent years major building programmes have included the construction of excellent sports facilities, a distinctive Sixth Form Centre and new classrooms, workshops, laboratories, ICT suites and staff accommodation. In February 2020 we took possession of our new teaching block and the current building programme was completed in autumn 2021. We enjoy fantastic new teaching spaces and communal areas.
