Deputy Head of English job summary

Our vacancy for a Deputy Head of English provides a superb opportunity for a talented English teacher to join our team. Challenging, inspiring and encouraging students to excel as individuals and raising aspirations through quality teaching and learning to develop students’ academic and life-skills is important to us, with our community at its heart.
We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic Deputy Head of English from September 2020. You will work closely with our recently appointed Head of Department to improve English provision further. You must be able to demonstrate the talent, interpersonal skills and a range of teaching strategies required to inspire and motivate pupils and other colleagues in the department. This role would be suited to someone who is an excellent practitioner who bring English to life both within and outside the classroom. This role offers excellent opportunities for an imaginative, creative and inspiring teacher to work in a successful department that has been a stable team for the last four years. We have five full-time teachers, two part-time teachers and our SENDCO, a former Head of English, teaches in the department. We also have a teaching assistant who works solely with the English department.
We are a supportive and friendly team who work collaboratively on all aspects of teaching and learning. Each member of the department is passionate about English and focused on doing the very best for every student in our school. We are always working together to improve our practice and inspire students to love English in the same way that we do.
