City of London Academy, Highgate Hill, opened as a mixed, all-ability, non-denominational academy in September 2017, and is housed in a lovely building with excellent facilities for students, staff and the community. With the support of our enthusiastic students, diligent staff, supportive parents and cohesive governing body, we strive to provide a calm and purposeful learning environment underpinned by high expectations.

We are seeking a Deputy Head of Year 9 to join us in June 2022. You will assist and support the current Head of Year who is a teaching member of staff. You will have experience of working with children in a school or similar setting providing support and advice. You will have great interpersonal skills as you will be an initial contact for students to provide general support or who raise concerns. You will also communicate with parents/carers regarding organisational, behavioural or attendance concerns. You should have excellent IT skills, be well organised and a team player. You will have the ability to build effective relationships with students and deal with challenges whilst maintaining positivity and professionalism. You will have knowledge of current policies and procedures relating to child protection and safeguarding. You must also be willing to undertake further training. Please note that this is a support staff position and there is no teaching element for this position.

You will be expected to manage your own workload and prioritise work appropriately. Excellent communication skills both oral and written are an essential part of the role to be able to deal with staff, students, parents and external agencies.

Normal hours will be between 8.00am and 16.00pm. It is expected that you would be available to support certain meetings outside of these hours by agreement in advance for which time off in lieu will be accrued. There are also INSET training days and TWILIGHT evenings throughout the academic year which you are expected to attend.
