Deputy Head of Year (Support Staff) job summary

PolyMAT is a small and ambitious MAT with a unique family feel that is seeking a Deputy Head of Year (non-teaching). Our vision is ‘Success for Everyone’ and the successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring that this vision is fulfilled.

We currently have three schools in our Trust: Woolwich Polytechnic School for Boys, a long-successful boys’ school, Woolwich Polytechnic School for Girls that opened in 2019, and Bannockburn Primary School, a large successful primary that joined the Trust on 1st November 2023. We also have our flourishing Sixth Form provision which is co-educational. Our Trust and our schools pride themselves on a culture of high standards delivered through our Values of Care and Unity. We provide a rewarding environment where students and staff feel valued and supported and everyone feels part of the larger family as our schools and departments work very closely together.

Following the success of our first ever Ofsted inspection at Woolwich Polytechnic School for Girls, is looking to appoint a dedicated Deputy Head of Year that will join us on our journey in delivering an outstanding education for all our students. Woolwich Polytechnic School for Girls is seeking a motivated and inspiring Deputy Head of Year. You will assist and support the current Head of Year who is a teaching member of staff. You will have experience of working with children in a school or similar setting providing support and advice. You will have great interpersonal skills as you will be an initial contact for students to provide general support or who raise concerns. You will also communicate with parents/carers regarding organisational, behavioural or attendance concerns. You should have excellent IT skills, be well organised and a team player. You will have the ability to build effective relationships with students and deal with challenges whilst maintaining positivity and professionalism. You will have knowledge of current policies and procedures relating to child protection and safeguarding. You must also be willing to undertake further training. Please note that this is a support staff position and there is no teaching element for this position.
