Forestdale Primary School is a maintained school in the London Borough of Croydon with 417 pupils on roll. We draw pupils from many different communities and backgrounds. 18% of our children are on the SEND register, 28% have English as an additional language (39 different languages are spoken) and 23% are in receipt of Pupil Premium funding.
Forestdale is a good school and on a successful journey towards outstanding. We have a fabulous learning environment with sound structures and systems and a supportive community. Our aim is for all children to develop a passion for life-long learning so that they can reach their potential, have high aspirations, embrace future opportunities, responsibilities and experiences and contribute meaningfully to society.
Our spacious modern building has extensive grounds and we have made the best use of every space to provide a rich learning setting. We have bright classrooms to work in and many other areas to support our cross-curricular approach to learning. Special areas include the ICT suite (with enough computers for one per child), a fabulous new sports hall with table tennis tables, a gymnasium with wall bars, a fully stocked library and a space themed learning resource centre. We have a large field for outdoor learning and outdoor sports, a pond, an allotment where we grow our own fruits and vegetables, an outdoor classroom/gazebo, two stages and a reading garden.
It is our terrific team of teachers and teaching assistants who are responsible on a daily basis for the academic progress and pastoral care of the children. Teachers are supported in this work by the Leadership Team, Teaching Assistants, Office Team, Lunchtime Supervisors, our site team and cleaning staff. All teaching staff have responsibilities beyond their own class, which usually involve the whole school in some way e.g. subject responsibilities. During the school day, teachers sometimes take other classes or groups of children for a variety of subjects, enabling all children to experience tuition and relationships with a number of adults.
