What OFSTED say about us: During our one day inspection in June 2024, the OFSTED inspectors spoke very highly of the education and care we have strived to develop, this is evident in the report which states had the inspection been graded the school demonstrated that it may have been graded as outstanding.

About the role: As Deputy Head, you will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team and school community. Your role will include being an excellent class teacher as well as strategic development of the curriculum, induction programme and the training and learning processes that take place day to day.

Key responsibilities:

General duties:

  • To model outstanding teaching, through example, and having high expectations of all children and staff.

Strategic Direction and School Development:

  • To contribute to the development of the school's vision, aims and strategic direction.
  • To work with the SLT to ensure the views of all stakeholders are taken into account and that these views hold the school to account to a wide range of groups, particularly parents, carers and governors.
  • To evaluate the school's performance in relation to its targets, aims and objectives working with the Headteacher to adjust the school's practice in line with findings.

Curriculum Development:

  • To lead on curriculum development, so that the curriculum remains innovative, diverse and fit for purpose, ensuring it supports all children to make progress.

Teaching and Learning:

  • To work with the Headteacher and SLT to ensure there is a high quality CPD programme in place which supports staff to deliver quality teaching and maximises positive impact of progress and attainment of children.
  • To lead on new interventions or research projects that the school agrees to be part of, monitor the implementation and impact of these.

Induction and Probation lead:

  • To take the lead in supporting new employees to understand and follow key policies and procedures.

EVC Co-ordinator:

  • To lead on the development of off-site visits for all children, following the educational visits policy.

ECT tutor and student mentor:

  • To make links with local schools, colleges, universities and teaching hubs, to promote our school and support the community in effective placement of students in our schools.

Safeguarding:

  • To take on advice, responsible role in promoting and safeguarding the welfare of pupils and takes on the role of Deputy Safeguarding lead.
