Deputy Head Teacher - Quality of Education job summary

Deputy Head Teacher - Quality of Education

Can you RISE to the challenge?

We are looking for a special individual to join our leadership team as we continue to grow and develop our school. Someone who will live out our values and ensure our students get the best education!

Our school values articulate what we hold dear as a community:

Resilience – the inner strength to keep going and adapting to new situations and circumstances.

Integrity – leading your team holding on to your core values; professionalism throughout.

Success – ensuring all students and professionals can succeed at Sir Thomas Fremantle.

Empathy – responding to colleagues, students and families with a considered insight

Sir Thomas Fremantle is set in North Buckinghamshire for 11-16 year olds serving the local community. The school is in easy reach of Milton Keynes and Aylesbury. We benefit from great facilities – the school building was only opened in 2017.

We are driven to ensure all our students have an incredible education that inspires and prepares them for the next step in their journey. With 650 students we are able to really get to know each of them and our sense of community is a real strength of our school.

Your professional development is really important to us. We want you to have the skills and training so you can flourish in your role. We care about your wellbeing and we want to work with you to ensure we do all we can to support you.

About you:

You will have an excellent understanding of a great education for all, from curriculum design to developing skilled teachers through high quality professional development. You will be well researched and have a passion for pedagogy. You will create a culture of supportive professional development from those at the start of their career to department leaders. You will be responsible for quality of education and developing our quality assurance processes to ensure our students are getting the best experience from us.

You’ll care about students, and you will want the best for them regardless of their circumstances or backgrounds. You’ll be their guide and advocate and you’ll support the team in breaking barriers to their success. You will use your analytical and evaluative skills to review our provision for students.

You’ll be ambitious, highly organised and lead by example. You will support the senior leaders in delivering our school improvement strategy and work closely with the head teacher to lead the school.

You will lead the leaders to ensure our school puts everything in place to enable all to succeed. You will be supported by a great senior leadership team and governors.

We will support you via training programmes, such as NPQs, Challenge Partners Conferences, 1:1 Independent Coaching, Peer Reviews Training.

Now is an exciting time to join us – help us lead Sir Thomas Fremantle to rise to the challenge!

We’d love to show you around and visit the school. To arrange a tour and meeting with the Head Teacher, please contact, Kate Duckmanton, PA to the Head Teacher on 01296 711853 or kate.duckmanton@sirthomasfremantle.org

STFS is a welcoming and caring school that is oversubscribed and academically successful. Our GCSE results place us firmly as one of the top performing non-selective schools across Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes. Being a small school, we have a unique opportunity to get to know each of our young people and their families, to develop a genuinely personalised approach to their learning and to offer the very best in academic rigour and pastoral care.

The students at STFS benefit from highly qualified and committed staff who understand the various challenges that young people face. The smaller class sizes and relationships that are deep rooted in mutual respect mean that students at STFS are more than a statistic. They feel valued and are keen to learn. We are committed to providing an environment where learners can learn and teachers can teach.
