Whitby Heath Primary School is a popular two form entry primary school situated in Ellesmere Port. Governors are seeking to appoint an outstanding leader to the position of Deputy Head Teacher at our school. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head Teacher, staff and governors in leading the school to drive high standards in teaching and learning across school. We are very aspirational for every child that we teach, our pupils are eager to learn, making it a delight to teach them.

Essential educational requirements


Essential qualifications

Qualified Teacher Status
Evidence of recent professional development in leadership

Essential skills and experience

Substantial successful teaching experience within the primary phase
Leadership experience within a key stage or phase of education
An up to date knowledge of the primary curriculum from the Foundation Stage through to the end of Key Stage 2
A proven record of raising standards and securing good progress through outstanding classroom practice
Good understanding of self-evaluation and school improvement planning
Proven ability in curriculum leadership which has resulted in improved standard
Experience of having worked in a monitoring role
An up to date knowledge of child protection procedures and a commitment to safeguarding pupils
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to empower, motivate, and enable staff through effective planning and delegation
Ability to embrace new initiatives in a practical way and manage change effectively
Ability to develop colleagues through coaching and mentoring
The ability to make clear and well-considered decisions
