Who we're looking for

Are you ready to make a life-changing difference for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)?

Do you have the passion, dedication and vision to lead with compassion, inspire growth, and create opportunities for our students?

Then we want to hear from you!

The Challenge

Windmill Hill School is on a journey of improvement. We’re looking for an inspirational leader, who’s looking for a challenge and wants to be part of our journey.

You’ll be an experienced leader, innovator and practitioner who puts relationships at the heart of everything you do.

This is your chance to shape the future of a school where every child’s unique potential is celebrated, and every achievement – no matter how small – is a victory.

As our new Deputy Headteacher, you will:

  • Lead with Vision: Collaborate with our Headteacher to shape the strategic direction of the school, driving continuous improvement and innovation.

  • Inspire Growth: Motivate and support our dedicated staff team, creating an environment of high expectations and emotional well-being.

  • Champion Inclusion: Ensure every child has the opportunity to achieve, no matter their ability or background, and build a school culture of acceptance and belonging.

  • Collaborate for Success: Work closely with families, professionals, and external agencies to create tailored learning journeys that unlock the potential of every student.

  • Embrace Challenges: With patience, resilience, and creativity, you’ll tackle challenges head-on and turn them into opportunities for growth and progress.

What You Bring

  • A deep understanding of SEND and a passion for inclusion.

  • A proven track record of successful leadership in education, ideally within a SEND setting.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build meaningful relationships with students, staff, and families.

  • A caring, empathetic approach, combined with the strategic mindset needed to drive improvement and excellence.

Why Join Us?

At Windmill Hill School, every day is different, every achievement is celebrated, and every staff member is a crucial part of our students’ success stories. In return for your dedication and leadership, we offer:

  • A supportive and collaborative school community.

  • Ongoing professional development to help you grow as a leader.

  • The opportunity to make a profound, lasting impact on the lives of students with SEND.

  • A vibrant, positive workplace where your well-being is prioritized alongside that of our students.
