Following the promotion of our current Deputy Headteacher, we are seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Deputy Headteacher who has the ambition to play a key role in the leadership and management of our school. The role is part class-based in a KS1 or KS2 class with one day of dedicated leadership time in addition to PPA.

The appropriate candidate will be highly effective in driving through improvement plans and practices, through creative and innovative thinking and applying systematic and effective monitoring processes. They will be well organised, pay attention to detail and be able to meet deadlines. They will be responsible for assisting the Head Teacher in supervising the day-to-day activities of the school, ensuring high standards of behaviour and teaching and learning and deputise in their absence.

They will have the children at the centre of their actions and be an effective Pastoral lead with a strong interest in promoting good mental health of staff, pupils and parents. The right candidate will have an interest, if not current experience, in the role of deputy safeguarding lead.

Our school is situated in the picturesque and historic village of East Coker. We currently have eight classes, some of which are mixed age. Although we are large for a village school we retain a ‘village’ feel with good links with the local community. Have high regard for self-improvement by keeping up-to-date with the latest educational research and practice

A warm and friendly school with happy, well behaved and highly motivated pupils
An excellent, talented staff team dedicated to providing the best for our pupils
Supportive and enthusiastic Governors and parents.
A professional training programme with opportunities for leadership development
