We are seeking to appoint a Deputy Headteacher to join our collaborative team who shares our vision and values and is committed to supporting the Senior Leadership Team to build on our current strengths. A proactive, creative approach and the ability to recognise and seize opportunities to further develop practice across the school to continue to raise the experiences and outcomes for each and every child will be essential to being successful in this role.

The successful candidate will :

* experienced in supporting a range of pupils with additional needs and disabilities and in supporting families;

Grand Avenue Primary & Nursery School is a local authority maintained, three form entry primary school, with a 52 place nursery. We are an inclusive and very popular school which serves local families from Berrylands, Tolworth and New Malden. The school boasts outstanding facilities which enable us to offer a well-rounded curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities to our children. The main building is recently built and has spacious, bright and well-equipped classrooms, a number of small group rooms, a large, well-stocked library, extensive ICT equipment, 2 halls, STEM building and a swimming pool. The outside area is well developed for both curriculum enhancement and for playtimes with trim trails, gym equipment, sand pit and adventure tunnels, an amphitheatre and ‘Moongate’. In addition to three hardstanding sports areas there is also an environmental area, allotments and, chickens! The school has a forward thinking, talented and caring staff team, supportive families and enthusiastic children; all of whom are proud to be a part of Grand Avenue Primary & Nursery school. Everyone works together to uphold our GRAND values and our ‘Enjoying Learning – Exceeding Expectations’ mantra. Our broad and balanced curriculum reflects our diverse community. We are an inclusive school and cater to pupils form a range of backgrounds, beliefs and experiences. We have an Enhanced Specialist teaching Arrangement agreement with the local authority to support pupils with ASD – we class our school as ASD friendly. Our curriculum is supported by an extensive menu of extra-curricular activities run by school staff and outside organisations. The school also runs a very busy Breakfast Club and an After School Club providing childcare facilities from 7:45 am to 6 pm. We have an active parent body with not only supports the school financially by raising money through a variety of fund-raising events but also offers support in school with reading, maths games, outdoor learning, swimming, trips and visits, sports events to name a few. We pride ourselves on being a truly community school, working closely with our local community and our neighbouring schools, offering joint working, outreach and contributing to Achieving for Children, our local authority children’s service organisation.
