Horsendale Primary School is seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to join our team as a Deputy Head Teacher. The role of Deputy Head is integral to the leadership and management of the school. The Deputy will be the ‘critical friend’ of the Head Teacher, supporting in the delivery of the vision for Horsendale and acting as a custodian of our school ethos. This role is a class teaching Deputy with allocated time to assist the Headteacher in identifying areas of improvement and directing the focus of the Senior Leadership Team in the management and development of the school through key responsibilities, linked to quality and standards. Fundamental to the role is the ability to act up in the absence of the Headteacher and form part of succession planning within the school and across the Trust.

If you are already an experienced Deputy Head Teacher, you may want to apply for the position and become a Head in waiting. In this role, you will initially be deployed to Horsendale Primary School. This role is a unique stepping stone to Headship, offering the opportunity to fulfil the responsibilities of Deputy Head Teacher, whilst working and learning from established school leaders. This is model developed across Flying High Partnership, with four previous Deputy Head Teachers (Head teacher in waiting) now successfully securing Headships across our partnership. This includes Andrew Whittle (Mapplewells), Steven Champion (Deputy at Beeston, now Head at Forest Glade), James Wood (Deputy at Candleby Lane, now Head at Lovers Lane), and most recently, Lois Clark (Deputy at Hollingwood, now Head at Peafield Lane).

If you choose the Head in waiting route, you will work in partnership with the Head Teacher and the central team to ensure that your school flourishes as a unique, exceptional, and sustainable school that inspires the community and empowers every child. The Role:

Class teacher in Year 5.

Support the Head teacher to deliver a vision an ambitious vision for every child.

Act up in the absence of the Head teacher.

Work alongside the Head Teacher and wider partnership, to grow and develop as a leader equipped to progress onto Headship.

Contribute to the strategic direction and development of the school.

Lead and manage staff to ensure high standards of teaching and learning.

Become the Pupil Premium manager.

Lead Maths across school.

Support new teachers as the ECT Learning Coach.

Manage the teacher induction programme when required.

Foster a positive and inclusive school culture, with high expectations for every child.
