Applications are invited for the position of
DEPUTY HEADTEACHER – SENDCo and Pastoral Care
Full Time / Permanent
Salary: L7-L10
Required from 1st September 2020
The Head Teacher and Governors of New Islington Free School are seeking to employ an outstanding and inspirational Deputy Headteacher. This is a very exciting opportunity to play a significant part in the development of this growing school.
New Islington is situated in the heart of Manchester – just minutes from Piccadilly. A new school, built as part of the urban regeneration project, we are growing to full capacity by 2022.
Our priority is to find a determined and ambitious leader, someone who is flexible, adaptable and motivated, with the vision and skills to work alongside the Headteacher to continue improving standards of teaching, learning and wellbeing for all our children.
Although this is a non-class based role, there will be a teaching commitment. The Deputy Head Teacher will work closely and collaboratively with the Head Teacher; standing side by side to ensure the school goes from strength to strength.
The DHT will take on responsibility for the pastoral care of our pupils, and will take on the role of SENDCo.
We can offer you:
• A warm and welcoming school with a strong sense of team
• Supportive governors that are committed to school improvement and who will work with you to achieve your goals
• Dedicated and talented staff who are keen to build on high standards

We are looking for someone who:
• Can engage effectively, communicate well and build upon positive relationships with children, staff, families and multi-agency networks
• Is able to lead, inspire, motivate and support our committed staff
• Has high ambition for the achievement of every child in the school and for yourself
• Is open to challenge, risk-taking and creativity
• Is hard-working, positive, and shows a ‘can do, will do’ attitude to school life

Our children want someone who:
• Is thoughtful, friendly and approachable
• Knows how to keep everyone safe
• Is a positive example and always has a smile on their face
• Will try their best for our school everyday

Candidates are encouraged to visit the school by prior arrangement. Visits are available at 9:30am, 11:00am or at 1:30pm on Wednesday 4th March 2020 and at the same times on Monday 9th March 2020.
Please contact the school on 0161 273 8007 or email Mrs Smith (Head Teacher) direct on t.smith@newislingtonschool.co.uk to make an appointment.

• The closing date for applications is noon on Wednesday 11th March 2020
• Short listing will be held on Thursday 12th March 2020
• Interviews will be held on Monday 16th March 2020
• Interviews will comprise a 10 minute presentation, an ‘in-tray’ exercise, a 15 minute Q&A with our School Councillors, and a formal interview.

Application forms and further details can be downloaded and should be returned to the Headteacher – applications in paper (not electronic) form preferred.
