Contract: 32.5 hours per week, all year round
Peak School is a welcoming school with a current enrolment of 87 students. We are on the lookout for an inspiring Deputy Headteacher to work alongside our dedicated staff and fabulous pupils. The ideal candidate will have the knowledge, skills and experience to be our Designated Safeguarding Lead and to lead our dedicated and forward thinking pastoral team. The successful candidate will oversee Behaviour and Attitudes, and Personal Development across school so a successful proven track record in these fields are essential.
This position offers a unique chance to significantly impact our pupils' lives by cultivating a positive and thriving environment. You will be joining us at a pivotal moment, as our new Headteacher started in April 2024 with an additional school leader coming on board in September 2024. We have an established School Business Manager so if successful, you will make up the final quarter of our leadership team. Together, we will lead with determination and influence, driving transformative change swiftly.
We welcome applications from leaders with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) from special and enhance resourced provision in either the primary or secondary education sectors. We are a nursery to 19 Special School Academy in the north west corner of Derbyshire. We cater for children and young adults with a whole range of needs, particularly those with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), communication difficulties, and those with extremely challenging behaviour linked to their associated learning difficulties.
Most pupils at Peak work outside the National Curriculum and we are proud to offer an individualised curriculum which is built around our four key areas:

We are located in a beautiful, rural environment in the village of Chinley, where we make full use of the local amenities and make a point of filling our curriculum with outdoor activities.

Hydrotherapy Pool
Sensory rooms and Sensory Garden
Fully equipped kitchen / catering learning environment for our post-16 pupils
On site nurse, visiting Physiotherapist and Speech and Language therapist.
Our location in north west Derbyshire, on the edge of the Peak District, means we are also accessible for pupils who may live in Cheshire, Stockport, Tameside (Greater Manchester) and also Sheffield.
We are currently Ofsted rated ‘Good’ – with outstanding for Behaviour and Welfare – and we are working hard to ensure we achieve outstanding results in our next inspection.
