St Mary’s is a voluntary aided Catholic, one form entry, school in the Diocese of Brentwood.

At St Mary’s we aim to provide a framework within which our children can hear and respond to the Gospel of Our Lord, Jesus Christ. Gospel values are reflected in the daily life of the school in all we do and say. We encourage our children to develop a relationship with God, to live and respond to the needs of others and to come to an understanding of the uniqueness of themselves.

The characteristic spirit of the school is one of love, trust and peaceful collaboration. The creation of such an ethos is the responsibility of all those involved within the school – pupils, staff, parents, governors and the community. Every child is unique and our ethos aims to cherish, nurture and encourage each child to develop to his or her full potential.

As a Catholic school the basis of our mission is to value and respect every person as an individual, made in the image of Christ. High standards and expectations of good behaviour, therefore, are fundamental if our children are to develop positive long-term relationships and remain happy and secure within their school environment. Strong emphasis is placed on pastoral care and all staff are fully committed to promoting the well-being of every child. The nurturing of this positive attitude is essential if pupils are to become successful learners, striving for excellence and achievement in all areas of the curriculum.

Our Mission Statement, Love God, Love Others, Love Ourselves, reflects these aspects in a way that is accessible to all
