What skills and experience we're looking for

St Mary’s Menston has the exciting opportunity to appoint a new Deputy Headteacher to the school for September 2023. The school is seeking to appoint an experienced leader who has vision, is passionate and able to inspire others through their strategic thinking and practice.

The successful applicant will join a strong Senior Leadership Team who will be instrumental in shaping the future of the school, guided by our Mission. With the leadership and guidance of the Headteacher, who was recently promoted from one of the Deputy Headteacher positions, the main responsibilities of the successful candidate will be decided upon once appointed to the role.

Applications would be welcome from any practising Catholic leader who has previously demonstrated strategic leadership and positive impact in the area of quality of education and/or pastoral inclusion such as safeguarding, behaviour and attitudes.

St Mary’s is a popular, oversubscribed and thriving school situated on the North West fringe of Leeds, close to the Yorkshire Dales. The school is part of the Bishop Wheeler Catholic Academy Trust which consists of St Mary’s Menston, St John Fisher Catholic High School, Harrogate and 11 primary schools. The June 2019 Section 48 inspection and November 2014 Ofsted inspection judged St Mary’s as an Outstanding school.
