About Central Foundation Girls' School

A ‘High Performing’ School

Central Foundation Girls’ School is a large, oversubscribed and inclusive 11-18 inner-city girls’ school in Bow. Students who attend our school receive an exceptionally high quality of education and gain qualifications that place them as some of the top performing students in the country.

Central Foundation provides an exciting curriculum offer for all its students, we work with individuals to ensure that our programmes meet the needs of all learners and that all are supported to achieve their best.

We have an excellent reputation both locally and nationally for high attainment and pupil progress. We are listed as one of the top performing schools in the country for pupil progress. Students at Central make more progress from KS2-4 than in over 3000 other schools across the country and we are the top performing school in Tower Hamlets for pupil progress. Due to our successes, the school is a designated ‘Leading Edge’ school and is able to provide support and advice for other schools across London.

In our last Ofsted inspection (October 2016) the school was graded as Outstanding for the Leadership and Management and Outstanding for Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare. Ofsted recognised that ‘leaders challenge pupils to excel in every aspect of their lives, academically, physically, socially and emotionally, within a supportive and extremely safe environment’. Ofsted said of our students: ‘In class, pupils are highly motivated and drive. They enjoy their learning and strive for academic excellence. They are proud of their work and work exceptionally hard in a stimulating and engaging environment.’ Central Foundation is a school that continues to develop at every level and is consistently demonstrating its capacity to be outstanding in every area.

At Central Foundation, we believe that all students should be given the opportunity to excel in all aspects of school life, not just in their academic studies. As active members of our school community, students are given opportunities to take part in a huge variety of activities and events in school. We also encourage all our students to apply for the many student leadership projects and initiatives run by the school and to join in our amazing after school programme called Central+.

We would like to welcome you to our school and to our rich and diverse community. We know that in joining us, you will become part of a community of active learners who are challenged and supported to become confident, high achieving young women, well equipped to become leaders of the future.
