Ofsted Rating

We have recently been judged as Good by Ofsted (January 2019) with 3 Outstanding categories; Leadership and Management, Personal Safety and Behaviour and our Post 16 Provision. We are incredibly proud to be the local secondary school of choice for the fourth year running with over 500 preferences for 210 places for September 2019. In addition, our recent GCSE and A Level results have again been outstanding demonstrating how much further we have travelled.


We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, committed and enthusiastic Teacher plus Assistant Head of Year 9 to join our team. This role has become available both as a result of a member of staff receiving a promotion to the level of Assistant Headteacher and in addition, due to the increase in the number of students that have selected the school as their first choice and the resulting increase in staffing. The successful candidate will join a team who are passionate about engaging and inspiring young people in their learning. We are looking to recruit a colleague with both the commitment and relevant skills to drive our raising standards agenda across the whole ability range. There are a range of additional teaching and learning awards on offer for the right candidate.

Essential educational requirements

• Good honours degree
• Teaching qualification (QTS)

Essential qualifications

Commitment to own self development
Experience of school leadership including recent experience as an Assistant Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher in a secondary school
Desire for Headship

Essential skills and experience

Successful, strong and passionate leadership
Developing and implementing strategies for raising achievement and achieving excellence for students, staff and self
Data analysis and target setting
Worked within an SLT for at least 2 years and within the last 2 years
Significant successful teaching experience with lesson always judged as good but mostly outstanding
Successful experience of managing whole school change to bring about clear evidence of school improvement for all or groups of students
Proven track record of developing and producing lead documents focused on planning, monitoring and evaluating key areas within the school
Experience of successfully dealing with sensitive difficult circumstances and conversations
Experience of working with and developing positive relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders e.g. governors, local authority and parents
Effective financial management of an area/s of the school budget
