  • An MFL subject graduate with qualified teacher status
  • A well-qualified teacher with a strong teaching record
  • Relevant professional qualifications (both formal and through appropriate experience) to meet the challenge of the appointment

  • The necessary skills to develop excellent relationships with students and parents
  • A willingness to explore innovative and dynamic methods for teaching and learning
  • High levels of enthusiasm, ambition, energy, resilience and determination

  • To be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of an exciting, coherent, relevant curriculum
  • To be responsible for supporting the development and quality assurance of high quality schemes of learning
  • To ensure the development and delivery of the academy assessment policy
  • To seek out, incorporate and use new technologies
  • To ensure faculty team and line manager are kept abreast of new curriculum initiatives as it relates to the subject area

  • To be responsible for, and regularly review faculty and subject raising attainment plans
  • To introduce new courses where appropriate and initiate change
  • To participate in reviews and other quality assurance activities across the academy
  • To carry out work scrutinies, moderation and other QA activities to ensure secure and well evidenced student progression, quality teaching and learning delivery

  • To analyse the data, against national and local benchmarks, to report upon patterns and trends and use this information to enhance development work

  • To ensure that up to date requirements of examination and assessment bodies and courses are known, observed and fully implemented by all members of the department, including all activities relating to internal and external verification and moderation

  • To ensure training is in place to allow department members to fully understand requirements of all courses at all key stages particularly in relation to public examination courses
  • To ensure departmental conformance and compliance with all school policies
