Design and Technology Teacher job summary

Crestwood Community School is one school, with two campuses serving central Eastleigh. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and ambitious person as a Teacher of Design and Technology to start in September 2021. Design & Technology sits within the Technology Faculty. The Faculty pride themselves on having an innovative and forward thinking curriculum. Practical work is at the heart of everything and the Faculty’s vision centres on giving students the skills and experiences they need so that they can be successful in the wider world beyond school.
Design & Technology in Crestwood at GCSE currently focuses on 3 specialisms: Resistant Materials, Textiles and Food. However, as an innovative and forward thinking team, we are always looking to develop new areas within the subject and at Key Stage 3 are already developing new projects such as Graphic Design. We are very purposely opening this role up to teachers of all Design & Technology specialisms as what is most important to us is that we get the best fit to match the culture and ethos for both the school and the faculty; as ultimately we know this will have the most rewarding impact on our students.
The faculty is incredibly well resourced across both campuses with specialist rooms for each subject area and up-to-date equipment, which is well managed and maintained by our own in-house technicians. Our IT resources are also excellent, with access to IT suites, ipads and specialist design software as needed.
We are looking for someone who can play an active role in contributing to the already high standards within the team. Design & Technology results are consistently strong and in some specialisms exceptional. You will be supported by a passionate and hands-on faculty leadership team; as well as experienced and dedicated teachers within that team.
This post offers an exciting career opportunity. The post would suit either an NQT or experienced teacher. You will work in a supportive and collaborative environment. If appointed as an NQT the post will be payable from 1st July 2020 in order to help in your preparation before the September start.
We will ensure that the successful candidate has; a comprehensive induction including a dedicated mentor, continuous professional learning, development and improvement
the opportunity to contribute to raising standards for all our students.

Commitment to safeguarding

Crestwood Community School and Hampshire County Council are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks along with other relevant employment checks.

Crestwood Community School had an Ofsted inspection in June 2018, which confirmed that we are a ‘good’ school. We also achieved outstanding gradings in Personal Development and Behaviour and Leadership. They also said that as a school we are “passionately committed to providing a first-class inclusive education for all pupils; tenacious in their pursuit of additional resources and approaches to continually improve provision.” This is a happy school, where staff and students want to be. The #Crestwoodfamily pervades through everything we do.

During these unprecedented COVID times, Crestwood has maintained its role as an essential hub for our community supporting at every level using our exceptional family approach.

The dedicated, close staff team was very responsive to the needs of our students and parents and our practice was commended by our MP and LEA
