Design and Technology Teacher Full or Part Time job summary
Teacher of Design and Technology – Full or Part Time
Permanent – January 2020
The Role
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, innovative and committed Teacher of Design and Technology. You should be able to motivate and inspire students through outstanding practice in your teaching. This will involve 100% commitment to our vision which is captured in our strapline “High Expectations | Exceptional Individuals”. Product Design is a popular option at both GCSE and A-Level and the school has excellent workshop facilities. Whilst the full range of Design & Technology courses is detailed below, the successful candidate will need to be able to teach in the Engineering / Graphics / Product Design area as opposed to Food and Textiles.
The Curriculum
In Year 9, students have 2 hours per week of Design and Technology, completing projects in each of Food, Graphics, Product Design and Textiles.
In Years 10 and 11, with students being taught for 5 hours per fortnight, we offer Catering, Engineering (WJEC), Food and Nutrition, Product Design: Graphics (AQA), Product Design (AQA) and Textiles.
Our A-Level course is based on 9 hours per fortnight and follows the AQA Product Design specification.
Our D & T Facilities
Our facilities are excellent and always remarked upon by parents and other visitors. We have three well-equipped workshops and two rooms with drawing tables and computers. There is a range of CAD / CAM equipment including laser cutter and 3-D printers. The heat treatment area allows both welding and sand-casting.
Living Here
Corfe Hills School is in a fabulous location within easy reach of Bournemouth and its beaches, Poole and its harbour, the Jurassic Coast and the Dorset countryside. The school serves the catchment area of Broadstone, Corfe Mullen and the wider area and we truly believe that all of our students are exceptional. Whilst the school was graded as “requires improvement” in November 2017, two years later, following 3 years of significant and sustained improvement, it has changed almost beyond recognition.
The 2019 GCSE results are exceptional with a Progress 8 score of +0.38 putting Corfe Hills in the top 20% of schools nationally and Progress 8 in Maths of +0.8 putting the results in the top 5% of schools nationally. In addition, Engineering was one of the top two courses across the school in terms of subject progress.
Applications from NQTs and experienced staff are welcome.
Application Process
We would be delighted to discuss this role further and welcome informal visits to the school. To arrange a visit or for further details please contact Kayleigh Burgess, Headteacher’s PA, headspa@corfehills.net
Application forms can be obtained from the school’s website www.corfehills.net
