The department encourages students to be independent and creative problem solvers by combining their skills, knowledge and understanding, to design and make quality products that solve real-world problems.

They do this through:

  • adopting strategies for developing ideas, planning and producing products
  • considering how past and present Design and Technology affects society
  • innovative and practical thinking to design creative solutions to everyday problems
  • recognising the moral, cultural and environmental issues inherent in Design and Technology

Great emphasis is placed on working together and sharing ideas, so an ability to work within a team is crucial.
