What skills and experience we're looking for

The Hemel Hempstead School seeks an enthusiastic and inspirational Design & Technology Teacher to teach across the age and ability range. This opportunity is open to experienced qualified teachers and early career teachers. Applications are welcomed from all material areas but a specialism in timbers or papers and boards would be preferred. The Hemel Hempstead School offers the successful candidate an inspiring and rewarding role.

What the school offers its staff

We offer an innovative induction and professional development programme, recognising that our staff are the key to our success. You will benefit from supportive colleagues, enthusiastic students and excellent facilities and resources.

The Hemel Hempstead School is a popular and oversubscribed school on a beautiful site in the Boxmoor area. The school is close to local and national rail, bus and road links to London. Our Ofsted inspection in 2021 praised the school, especially “your values of Responsibility, Respect, Relationships, Reflection and Resilience being at the heart of the atmosphere at The Hemel Hempstead School. You prepare pupils to be courteous, considerate and capable young people, ready for the adult world.’ We are an expanding school, with 217 students in each year group and over 250 students in the Sixth Form. Our facilities are excellent with world-class sporting facilities, a brand-new music, languages and science centre and plans for further improvements across the site. In September 2025 we will have a brand-new school building. The school is part of Scholars’ Education Trust.
