Design Technology Technician job summary
This role is part-time and you will be working 15 hours per week.
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and self-motivated team player who will support 3D Design, regularly liaising and working closely with the Subject Leader.
As a DT Technician you will be responsible for using your initiative and ensuring a high level of support is provided to the Design Technology Department, to both staff and students, with preparation of materials and resources for lessons, assisting student learning on a one-to-one basis and with small groups, allowing students to achieve and make progress.
You will also possess the skills to be able to prioritise the requirements of the department and work independently to complete tasks.
Responsibilities will include working alongside students in the workshop, supporting their development of skills, preparing classroom materials/resources, maintaining adequate stock levels and ensuring that routine maintenance and repairs of equipment and machinery is undertaken.
A good knowledge of the required health and safety, most up to date guidance and risk assessment requirements is required, as is the possession of a wide range of practical skills including CAD/CAM, to be able to produce high-quality exemplar materials for projects.
Experience gained in other fields e.g., industrial, will be highly valued.

- Be computer literate and willing to learn school systems
- Be confident in the use of, and able to maintain, the circular saw and bandsaw
Desirable Skills and Abilities:
- Be familiar with 2D design and Laser Cut
- Able to use CAM machines e.g., laser cutter
- Be confident in the use of working machines e.g., lathes
- Previous technician experience
- Some experience of electronics
- Industrial experience
