What skills and experience we're looking for
Queensmead is an oversubscribed 11-18 mixed academy school where students achieve highly and ‘behaviour around the school is excellent’ (Ofsted). With access to new facilities completed in 2022, the building includes three workshops and two computer suites, with areas set aside for 3D printing and laser cutting projects.
We are looking for a DT technician to provide support for the Design & Technology Department. The ideal candidate will be competent in the set-up, use and maintenance of workshop equipment and machinery, new technologies such as laser cutting and 3D printing and art processes. It will involve preparing resources and equipment for lessons: hard materials: woods, metals and plastics, as well as maintaining machinery and ordering supplies.
Previous experience of working in an educational environment is advantageous because you will need to be able to support students and staff in the workshops. A knowledge of basic engineering and/or mechanics would be highly advantageous, however full training will be given.
Hours of work:- Monday to Thursday, 8am to 3.45pm, with 30 minutes lunch (unpaid)
Friday, 8am to 3.30pm, with 30 minutes lunch (unpaid)
