What skills and experience we're looking for
- Being a member of, or associated to, the Senior Leadership Team in an educational setting
- Significant experience of working with vulnerable children and young people
- Experience of developing policies and protocols, ensuring these remain up-to-date and relevant
- Experience of managing child protection cases and investigations
- Experience of liaising with a range of agencies and professionals to support children and young people
- Experience of working effectively with parents to safeguard children and young people
- Experience of
inter-agency liaison for at least 3 years
- The ability to explain the principles involved in giving advice and guidance to children and young people
- The ability to write action plans for children and young people, maintain accurate records and create complex safeguarding reports
- The ability to motivate children and young people by establishing empathetic and supportive working arrangements
- The ability to
demonstrate knowledge of the responsibilities of agencies towards vulnerable
children and young people
- The ability to explain the additional support which can be of assistance to vulnerable children, young people, and their families
- The confidence
and skills to provide professional challenge and support to other colleagues
- A knowledge and commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people.
- The ability to communicate with Parents/Carers
of children and young people in their care about their child’s needs and
well-being
- The ability to communicate with External partners about children and young people in their care about the child’s needs and well-being
- A knowledge and commitment to policies and
procedures
- A knowledge of the Data Protection Act (1998) and UK GDPR requirements associated with data
- Ensure that child protection files are kept up to date.
- Organisational skills to create/implement systems and processes, allow robust managing of safeguarding concerns and tracking actions
