Director of Inclusion job summary

Lead our inclusion strategy and have a transformational impact on our young people and communities.

We are seeking to appoint a Director of Inclusion to lead the development and delivery of a high impact inclusion strategy for our schools. The post-holder will hold a key position in our trust, working with our schools and headteachers to ensure the highest standards of behaviour and attendance. A key part of the role will be to lead on our approach to educational equity and broader equality and diversity.

The Director of Inclusion will oversee a team, including leads for safeguarding and SEND, so knowledge of these important areas will be important.

One of our Trust’s core principles is that we believe in a comprehensive education. Vibrant learning communities are built when pupils of all abilities and backgrounds thrive together, and a truly excellent education enables choice and agency for all children.

This role is perfect for you if:

You believe in the role of schools in achieving education equity

You are passionate about inclusion and driven to achieve exceptional outcomes for our most vulnerable pupils

You possess a clear vision for inclusion in a MAT context and have the ability to inspire others to share that vision.

You are a champion of high standards and believe in the power of education to change lives

You have high levels of expertise around leading effective strategies to improve: behaviour, attendance, approaches to alternative provision and special educational needs

This will be a challenging but deeply rewarding position. You will need to:

Develop approaches to inclusion that uphold our principles of excellence, comprehensive education and a broad education

Work positively with parents and our schools’ communities

Provide high quality support and advice to headteachers and school leaders

Work in partnership with external agencies, partners and local authorities

Experience as a headteacher would be desirable but not essential. We are interested in you if you have strong personal drive, a commitment to both inclusion and the highest standards and a passion to make a difference for a community.

The role schools play and how they work together in the local community is central to our vision of ambition, fairness and equity. We know that if we focus on the most vulnerable, all children do better.

If you are excited by what you read in this pack and more widely, if you are ready for a new challenge and if you see the potential of this role and the wider benefits of working in a forward-thinking multi-academy trust, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Pre-application discussions are welcomed and encouraged. If you would like to find out more about this position, or to arrange a visit, please contact Tania Tull, Trust HR Manager.

We look forward to hearing from you.
