Full Time Director of Languages and EAL

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding leader to the role of Director of Languages and EAL Faculty

As a Director of Languages and EAL, the successful candidate will further strengthen an already thriving faculty consisting of 4 French teachers and 2 EAL support staff.

The role includes leading on curriculum design at KS3 and 4 and enhancing teaching development. They will have a proven track record of excellent outcomes and a passion to create a love of culture, language learning and enrichment opportunities.

Applications are invited from inspirational, ambitious and talented classroom practitioners and current leaders who are dedicated to driving and supporting their team to become the very best innovative and engaging languages teachers who can secure the best outcomes that allow students to achieve their full potential.

For the EAL aspect of the role the successful candidate will lead the EAL teaching and learning strategy and manage the EAL support staff. The use of specialist technology and bespoke teaching and intervention supports EAL students to remove language barriers in order to promote effective participation and engagement in lessons, raise aspirations and to ensure these learners achieve their full potential. They will track the data and progress of EAL learners and provide effective intervention, communication with parents and CPD. This whole school aspect the role is ideal for aspirant Senior Leaders as the role includes working and support the middle leadership team to promote the development, implementation and evaluation of teaching and learning strategies to ensure the best outcomes for EAL students.

The MFL team work collaboratively and support one another brilliantly. Leaders provide a clear and strategic approach to the curriculum, teaching and assessment approaches and the Director of Faculty will be expected to prioritise the further development of Schemes of Learning and lesson resources to ensure they are to a Gold Standard and ready to embrace the imminent changes to GCSE requirements. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to enrichment opportunities, language clubs, Jet Set HAL and support visits overseas.
