The Halley Academy has been an International Baccalaureate World School since 2019 and students enjoy both the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme and the International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme. We have ambitious plans to introduce new qualifications and have already been successful in our application to deliver the new T Level programmes from 2023. With this in mind, this new centre has been specially designed to support the delivery of the Engineering T Level programme and apprenticeships.

We offer a vibrant, experienced and committed Technology department, passionate about STEM and dedicated to supporting students throughout their learning experience and securing the best possible outcomes for them. Students benefit from the very best technological learning opportunities and are all equipped with a Chromebook. Students can currently choose from Food Technology, Design Technology and Engineering.

This is an exciting opportunity within a thriving Academy undergoing considerable investment and the construction of a new purpose built centre of excellence supported by and working in partnership with The Tallow Chandlers Livery Company.

This is an exciting opportunity for an existing Head of Department or an excellent practitioner ready to move into leadership. We believe in developing staff into outstanding practitioners through our excellent CPD and have team members who are currently completing NPQML and NPQH courses, as well as alumni from the Teach First and Teaching Leaders programmes. Colleagues at the Academy benefit from being part of the Leigh Academies Trust, providing opportunities to share best practice and collaborate with other centres of engineering/technology excellence across the multi academy trust.

Being part of Leigh Academies Trust: As of 1st September 2021, our Trust will comprise 32 geographically organised academies (15 secondaries, 14 primaries and 2 special) educating 20,000 students, and employing 2,500 talented staff. The Trust is establishing four ‘clusters’ of academies: North West Kent; Central Kent; South East London; Medway. In addition, the Trust is responsible for one of the region’s biggest initial teaching training organisations, a large teaching school hub and is an accredited apprenticeship provider. As part of Leigh Academies Trust you will have ample opportunity to collaborate with your peers both within the academy and across the whole Trust. You are supported to undertake regular self-development to continue your professional development and hopefully progress further within the organisation.
