We are seeking to appoint an experienced and outstanding teacher and team leader who has the drive, vision, strategic leadership skills and qualities, to continue to raise further the levels of students’ achievement and progress in a very successful and enthusiastic Science department.

Hounsdown is an 11-16 Science College which converted to an Academy in August 2011. We are a popular, over-subscribed, Outstanding (Ofsted 2017), Hampshire school and a strategic partner for the ETC Teaching School Alliance. Essential educational requirements

GCSE in Science (essential)

Degree or equivalent academic qualification in the subject (essential)

Essential qualifications

Qualified Teacher Status (essential)

Essential skills and experience

At least 4 years teaching of Science in an English School

Previous experience as a middle leader (subject leader) (desirable)

Previous leadership experience – Science (e.g. 2nd in Science or responsibility within Science (essential)

Previous experience of line management of colleagues (desirable)

Previous experience of leading training / inset or department meeting (desirable)

Previous experience of holding colleagues to account (desirable)

Previous experience of monitoring, evaluating and review within Science (desirable)

Previous experience of undertaking lesson observations of colleagues and giving feedback (essential)
