What skills and experience we're looking for
Are you an exceptional, talented Mathematics teacher with leadership experience who is looking for career progression and opportunities in a vibrant school? We wish to appoint a motivated, highly skilled teacher and leader with a genuine passion for maximising the potential of every student and developing the quality of Mathematics provision.
If appointed, you will lead on a key aspect of the school’s curriculum, working with an enthusiastic team of committed teachers who strive to provide the best education and extra-curricular opportunities for students.
The successful applicant will be a talented, influential and passionate leader with exceptional subject knowledge and expertise, who demonstrates the skills required to influence and develop others, and shape the teaching, learning and curriculum in Mathematics at Weatherhead High School and (in future) across the Peninsula Multi Academy Trust.

- have the ability to unlock the potential in teachers, by challenging them to be the best and modelling the most effective teaching in Mathematics.
- be prepared to take on whole school leadership responsibilities outside the Mathematics department.
This is an exciting post, created to help fulfil leaders’ and trustees’ ambition to deliver excellence in Mathematics and promote a love of learning and excellent outcomes for all students. The post will suit an ambitious current middle leader seeking a professional challenge and high levels of job satisfaction.
What the school offers its staff
Weatherhead High School is a large 11 to 18 oversubscribed girls’ comprehensive school with approximately 1540 students on roll. There is an excellent mixed Sixth Form with nearly 300 students. We have a PAN of 254 for each year group from Year 7 to 11 and the school of choice for girls in Wallasey and the surrounding area.
Our facilities are amongst the best in the country – we have an excellent building, which really enhances teaching & learning as well as our extra-curricular provision. Students and teachers benefit from well-presented classrooms, excellent creative arts and sports facilities and up-to-date ICT provision. The school is located close to the M53 and the Wallasey Tunnel, and is easily accessible from Liverpool and Cheshire by car or public transport.
Students are both engaged and engaging; they enjoy learning and are warm and enthusiastic about the opportunities offered to them. Staff work hard and are well rewarded. There is a great team spirit amongst the staff and a strong emphasis is placed on professional growth and development.
We were judged to be an Ofsted ‘Good’ provider in our recent inspection in November 2022. During the inspection, inspectors commented that ‘Weatherhead High School is a happy and friendly learning community. Pupils, students in the Sixth Form and staff are proud to belong to this school. Relationships between staff and pupils are strong.’
Weatherhead High School is the lead school in the Peninsula MAT and this post will provide opportunities in the future for trust-wide working.
