Further details about the role

This is a key role for Lodge Park Academy. We are ambitious for Music at the school, and want to develop our music department further, so that it becomes a central element in the school’s identity, with large numbers of students singing, learning a musical instrument, and progressing from an exciting KS3 curriculum to study the subject at KS4 and KS5. Music is currently taught across KS3, KS4 and KS5, with students having classroom music for one hour each week at KS3 and progressing to GCSE and A Level Music – like all schools, we want to increase the number of students taking music at KS4 and KS5, not to help with school budgets but because music is such a valuable academic subject. Students are able to learn any musical instrument of their choice and we enjoy a productive partnership with the Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust (NMPAT) – we want at least 10% of our student cohort to be taking up this offer and to be playing in school and community musical ensembles. There is an annual school production (most recently, Beauty and the Beast) and there is a regular pattern of school concerts. Students have performed with Nevill Holt Opera, Gabrieli Roar and the Britten Sinfonia, have undertaken music residential trips through our relationship with the Trust.
