Director of Music

M1 – UPS3 (£29,344 - £44,919) plus TLR 1.3 £12,720 per annum

After 33 years of service to the School, our exceptional Director of Music is retiring. This provides an opportunity for an enthusiastic and talented successor to build on an extraordinary legacy. We are seeking a well-qualified and inspirational individual to lead the curriculum (including GCSE and A Level) and extra-curricular provision for music. The successful candidate will have a commitment to music for all and the achievement of excellence in line with our school values. An ability to lead and coordinate multiple ensembles and a team of peripatetic music teachers is essential. Good keyboard skills would be advantageous, but not essential.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with our students, many of whom are phenomenal musicians. We select 10% of our cohort each year on the basis of music aptitude. Recent alumni from the school have gained places in conservatoires and one student won an organ scholarship at a prestigious Cambridge College. WBGS has an excellent reputation for music and has enviable facilities in the Clarendon Muse, with a purpose built concert hall, recording studio, classrooms and practice rooms.

For a successful candidate we are able to support the completion of an MA.
