If so, an exciting opportunity has arisen to become the Director of Performing Arts at Selby High School, taking strategic leadership of music, drama and dance. If you have already made an impact as a music teacher, and you are able to demonstrate a commitment to the extra-curricular life of a school, then come and join us at Selby High to take our Performing Arts team on the next stage of its journey.
We’re looking for a creative and inspirational leader who will have:
excellent understanding of curriculum development across music, drama and dance, and a proven track record of gaining excellent results;
the skills, energy and commitment to create a vibrant culture of music, dance and drama within the school, overseeing regular performing arts events, a rich programme of enrichment activities and leading on the annual whole-school production.

A talented and committed team of teachers and support staff work exceptionally well with parents, carers and governors to provide a high quality education for students which secures outstanding outcomes, year in year out.
At Selby High School we ensure that every individual reaches their academic and personal potential, no matter what their starting point. We combine a strong focus on the core areas of literacy, numeracy and science, with a rich and engaging curriculum which offers a broad variety of exciting courses, including the full range of art, technology, sport-related and performing arts based subjects. Learning is carefully structured around the knowledge, skills and understanding required both for success in examinations, and preparation for life in the modern world.
We aim to develop resilience and independence in our students, acknowledging that learning from our mistakes is all part of making great progress. Through regular assessment of learning we are able to inform students and their parents and carers of strengths and areas for development at regular points throughout the year.
Strong pastoral support is central to our work, and we pride ourselves on the safe, friendly environment in our school. Student and staff wellbeing is at the heart of all we do. Excellent behaviour stems from the high expectations in place, alongside the positive relationships between all members of the school community. Student voice is very important to us, and as well as the main Student Council we have 5 thriving Year Group Councils and a Student Wellbeing Group.

We have a programme of events which prepare students to be caring and considerate citizens in 21st Century Britain, as well as a rich extra-curricular programme.
