Director of Safeguarding job summary
Emmanuel Schools Foundation is a multi-academy trust of six schools, across seven sites across the north-east and Yorkshire. Our schools are based in Blyth, Northumberland, Gateshead, Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Thorne, Doncaster.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Safeguarding will lead and manage inclusive safeguarding strategies across the Multi Academy Trust. This role is pivotal in ensuring the well-being of, and an inclusive and consistent teaching and learning experience for, all students in a safe and welcoming environment where everyone is Valued, Challenged and Inspired. The post-holder will work collaboratively with Trust Officers, school leaders, staff, and external agencies to create a safe and supportive environment for all students.
The Director of Safeguarding will work in a hybrid fashion, from a flexible location within the Trust geography with the expectation of regular, perhaps frequent, travel to each of our schools.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop and implement comprehensive and inclusive safeguarding strategies for the Trust.
- Operate as the DSL for the Trust and support Principals in their line management of DSLs
- Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements and best practices related to safeguarding.
- Provide expert advice and support to Trust Officers, school leaders, and staff on safeguarding matters.
- Lead on the development and implementation of consistent policies and procedures related to safeguarding across the Trust.
- Oversee the training and development of staff in safeguarding practices.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safeguarding practices across the Trust.
- Monitor and evaluate systems and approaches in relation to safeguarding and inclusion in the context of the distinctive Christian ethos of the Trust.
