What skills and experience we're looking for

At Emmaus Catholic MAC our vision is ‘Excellent Catholic education for all in the heart of our communities: nourishing faith, nurturing talent and fostering aspiration.’ The Board of Directors of our thriving and growing Multi Academy Company, supported by the Archdiocese of Birmingham, is looking to recruit a talented and ambitious Director of School Improvement to drive our ongoing plans for improvement and to build on the current achievements of our schools. The successful candidate will be fully supportive of our Catholic ethos and a person who, by personal example and professional leadership, will ensure that the Catholic ethos, rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church permeates all aspects of the life of the MAC and each of its schools.

The post holder will work collaboratively with the Catholic Senior Executive Leader (CEO) and other partners to secure accelerated and sustained school improvement by:

  • developing, owning and implementing the MAC school improvement strategy.
  • building the capacity of Principals to accurately self-evaluate and empower them to lead and secure sustained school improvement.
  • establishing and developing high performing school and MAC leadership teams to impact on all aspects of school improvement.
  • providing support, advice, guidance and regular reviews to MAC primary phase schools.
  • regularly reviewing and supporting vulnerable schools, working alongside leaders to ensure a rapid improvement journey.
  • Developing, co-ordinating and delivering the Emmaus school improvement CPD offer, both internally within the MAC and externally to other MACs/Trusts and schools.

What the school offers its staff

Reporting to the Catholic Senior Executive Leader (CEO), the successful candidate will be part of the MAC Executive Team and play a major part in the development and implementation of strategy across the whole spectrum of our activities.
